Abbotsford House & Melrose, Scotland {5} | Travel Photography

August 6, 2011

The second day trip out into the countryside took us to Sir Walter Scott’s home of Abbotsford and the ruins of nearby Melrose Abbey (which Scott wrote of in one of his poems). I was so inspired by both these stops…peaceful, serene, a little sad but so beautiful…and the flowers. I forgot how much I loved English-style gardens….someday I will have one & there will be afternoon tea and scones there, mark my words & stop on by!!

I think at this point in the trip, the jet lag had dissipated and we were used to the routine, so we started to let loose and enjoy the experience (and some silliness ensued…see dancing picture below!)

And in case you’ve missed any stops here are the {5} from: London, Bath & Stonehenge and Edinburgh.

STUN.NING. sigh.

See…silliness. Also – our bus driver wore a kilt. Ah, Scotland. (and yes…that scarf again;) )

How could you not dream here – the scale is overwhelming!

These make me wish I was back there – maybe someday! Tomorrow: The Birthplace of Golf, St. Andrews, Scotland

Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend!
