Marlene and Jason met because of a friend’s wedding – only Jason wasn’t invited. A fact that he still notes to this day, but Marlene attended the wedding with her best friend and Maid of Honor, Lee to celebrate with their friends. After the wedding, the two girls headed to a nearby bar…a bar which happened to be the one their classmate Jason decided to visit a few minutes earlier.
Conversations were started over drinks and the two became inseparable from that night.
Six years later, Jason made plans to propose to the love of his life on a beautiful hike…but that morning, Marlene decided she wasn’t in the mood to hike – it had been a long week, so -thinking on his feet!- Jason switched the hike to a picnic. Marlene was trying to lighten their load and suggested that she could fit all the food and drinks in her purse so they wouldn’t have to carry a big backpack. Little did she know that the very backpack she was trying to leave behind contained her engagement ring and a celebratory bottle of champagne!
Since this is a wedding blog post – you know things turned out just as they should with these two traveling back to their beloved Austin to profess their handwritten vows under the Texas sun next to the Colorado River in a backyard surrounded by their closest friends and family – and adorable (horse-sized) dog Finn. (If you look closely, the custom pint glasses given as favors even feature the sweet pup!)
Also – if everyone could please have their first dance under twinkle lights and as starry sky surrounded by the people they love? kthanks!
