Katelyn and Jacob were one of the sweetest couples I’ve worked with. Every smile and every exchange throughout the their day was so genuine and heartfelt. It’s easy to see the source of that heart – their family and friends were just as warm. They treated me like family, and I loved every minute of documenting their big day. Not to mention that they had THE most adorable flower girl and tiny ring bearer! A near-Valentine’s Day wedding made perfect sense for this sweeter than sweet group.
A Happy Smudge
After their incredible day, Katelyn & Jacob piled into their getaway car (with me as a stowaway – I just couldn’t leave them!) for a quick stop by The Capitol for one last wedding day photo. As we pulled away, they talked about how amazing the day was and how fast it went by “like a blur,” to which Katelyn replied, “No, no. It was a happy smudge!” And that is my new favorite phrase for those memories that light you up from within, no matter how clear or hazy they seem. The best thing about photography is that you get to freeze those moments in time to look at over and over again over the years. So, without further ado, here is a peek at their ‘Happy Smudge’…
I absolutely love the sanctuary at Redeemer Lutheran Church because of the tall cathedral ceiling and gorgeous stained glass. Their ceremony photos look incredible in front of that backdrop – so intimate and sacred. And VUKA event venues have a full staff that is both knowledgeable and such a pleasure to work with when it comes to coordinating with multiple vendors. Plus, their spaces are beautiful and completely customizable. Be sure to check out the rest of the vendors who made this a day to remember for everyone involved.
