I had the privilege of traveling through Southern Italy and Greece for a couple of weeks this Fall, and I’m finally ready to share some attempts to capture the beauty and spirit of this amazing part of our world. Some of it is huge/grand/breathtaking…and some is quiet/normal/lovely. I experienced it all…
CAPRIPOMPEIROMELet me break in here for a little bit of a story: These next two images are the main reason Jackie (who you’ll meet later) and I wanted to go back to Rome. Seriously.
Ask me about this sandwich sometime.NAFPLIO, GREECEATHENSSANTORINIThis is my beautiful, honest, adverturous, charming best friend – Jackie – who can challenge me and then turn around and laugh with me until we wake up the entire hotel floor… I can occasionally convince her to stand in front of my camera.
We’ve discovered that we travel well together…and I’m realizing how rare that is.Here’s my plug for Go Ahead Tours. This was my 3rd trip with them and they’ve all been top notch…to me there’s no better option!
Part of what they do well is using fun, personable, knowledgable local guides. But there were 2 big reasons that this was the best trip yet. One – this group of 25 or so people all got along so well that we were more than happy to eat together (drink some wine together) and were genuiely sad to say goodbye on day 15. Two – our Tour Director Michael (no joke, you will be the luckiest traveler in Europe if you have the priveledge to travel with him). He clearly loves these countries and encourages such a beautiful spirit of travel that I just wanted to pack him in my suitcase to keep that passion and vantage point of traveling forever. Michael, I really hope to meet you again – best wishes to you and your family!
