I’ve been so exited to post this wedding – probably ever since their engagement session! Carly and Kent were married at Pecan Spring Ranch on a Texas spring day where the weather forecast showed 100% chance of rain, then 20%, then 100%,so everyone watched the sky (and the iPhone weather app) like hawks…everyone, that is, except the bride and groom. The smile never left their faces, even when the thunder boomed and the rain started pouring right before their first look. We found shelter and the rain on the little tin roof was the perfect soundtrack to the moment. The skies cleared just before the ceremony and we were gifted the most beautiful sunset…but I don’t even think they noticed…their eyes never left each other.
Cristina and I met for coffee to talk about their wedding and left that same day as friends…her wedding to her love Chris was nearly a year later and I couldn’t wait to work with them. Their day was blessed by a rare, bright, and sunny Texas spring day that left us searching for shade and chasing the sunset. Take a look!
The marriage of a Zumba instructor and a Boxing Judge sounds like it would be non-stop action and energy right…well…it absolutely was! The gorgeous day started with the ladies salsa dancing their way through hair and make-up and ended with the newlyweds salsa dancing through lines of sparklers held by family and friends who couldn’t wait to celebrate with them.
Oh, and there was a mariachi band…yes, it was as awesome as you imagine.
Here’s a look at their day.
A little over a year ago, I jumped at the chance to photograph John Mark’s surprise proposal to Carly – we spent the morning wandering downtown Austin celebrating and pausing for a few photos and even more excited kisses…and when they called about capturing their wedding, there was no answer except an all-caps YES!
They celebrated from sunup to well past sundown with friends and family even some strangers who joined in with congratulations along the way – here’s a little taste of my first wedding of 2016…and the reason I knew from the very beginning that this will be an amazing year.
